Keys to Increasing Collaboration and Effective Team Building

More and more grants and contracts are interdisciplinary and require collaboration among key, internal personnel. Others, utilize external collaborations and consortia between other institutions, and even for-profit corporations.

This half day seminar is designed to assist faculty and staff members who want to evaluate the skills they bring to a team effort or collaborative situation. In this seminar, participants will learn how to:

• evaluate group roles and behavior
• assess their team building skills
• avoid behavior that is counter productive to effective group functioning
• develop new skills to improve their group performance
• and select group members and assign tasks in a way that capitalizes on the skills of all of the group members

The participants' investment of time in this seminar will have beneficial returns, not only in terms of their grant related productivity, but also in their work with:

• department committees
• undergraduate and graduate student groups
• professional organizations
• social service clubs
• and community organizations

This seminar incorporates stimulating actitivies and dicussions to provoke introspection, insight, and personal learning.
